First introduced to yoga in elementary school, Amy has long appreciated it's benefits; however, it wasn't until decades later, in India and Nepal, that she began to better comprehend the deeper meaning & magnitude of yoga & its many limbs (self-study, physical asanas, breathwork, meditation & more). After years of exploration, I chose to deepen my practice by embarking on yet another journey, obtaining my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2017. I am ever grateful to be able to teach this graceful form of exercise & educate on its numerous additional mind-body benefits. I love seeing students, who commit to regular practice, grow in physical strength & flexibility while supporting their own spiritual, emotional & overall health too. that help build & maintain both individual & collective wellbeing!
WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT YOU BRING ABOUT
Research links the physical health of our gut and its microbiome to our mental state, but research also shows our mental perspective has the ability to shape our digestive health and overall physical state of being too! On top of life's daily stressors, (which are not necessarily a bad thing when balanced by restful calm, as stress can induce positive change, help build new muscles and impart other benefits), our worries about things that may or may not happen, in addition to our excessive focus upon other stress-inducing emotions may contribute to our overload and to finding ourselves in a more ongoing state of fight-or-flight sympathetic nervous system response.
But the good news is that simply sitting and attending to the mind and its thoughts can elicit relaxation response and affect brain activity- long after the mental exercise ends. Plus, if sitting is difficult, walking meditations and various other styles of meditation are there for you to experience! In other words, there's a style for most everybody and just a few minutes a day of working with our minds and thoughts can have a lifetime of awesome, far-reaching effects!
TAKE FIVE!
Many people find that cultivating the habit of carving 5 minutes each day for reverent stillness can quickly give way to more stillness and calm throughout the days, years and decades of their lives. Many are also joyful to discover that allocating time to a short daily practice can lead to a greater sense of purpose, an increased connection with innermost desires, a more relaxed body, better digestion, improved mental outlook, increased capability to make healthy decisions from a more balanced, centered place, and numerous additional benefits....
and to think that much of this can result from mere minutes of time spent supporting mind-body-spirit connection through choosing healthy thoughts & thought patterns and through cultivating comfort in just being in one's own skin.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT, DIGEST, ELIMINATE & MORE!
Most of us have heard the saying, "You are what you eat" and know that there are daily recommended intakes of various vitamins minerals and nutrients that we should ingest each day in order to fuel our bodies but how many of us actually really know how this relates to what we consume in a day? Not until I kept a food journal and did dietary data entry for a few weeks did I truly see the areas in which I did fine and those in which I fell short. Fortunately, it is was not too difficult to discover opportunities for improvement and interesting ways to incorporate more nutrition in to my diet.
Research links the physical health of our gut and its microbiome to our mental state so diet IS KEY for not only proper nutrition but for our mental health as well. Digestion begins in the mouth with proper chewing, but did you know that setting the stage for digestion and absorption begins well before we begin down to eat during what's called the cephalic phase?
When we mindfully prepare meals, make time to take in aromas of ingredients or food on our plates and give gratitude for the bounty our body receives, we support the flow of gastric secretions and prepare the gastrointestinal tract for healthy uptake of the soon-coming sustenance which, in turn, feeds every system of our body and supports our mental wellbeing too!
A healthy relationship with food is a huge part of the wellness equation and, as a Certified Holistic Nutrition Coach and individual who has transformed her own self away from unhealthy diet and eating issues toward a more sustainably enjoyable and healthy relationship with food, I intimately understand what it can take to make these shifts. Although currently not offering nutrition programs at this time, I am always happy to help you honestly, lovingly examine eating patterns and to incorporate nutritious, delicious recipes and nourishing principles and traditions into your wellness plan. I am also happy to make suggestions on healthy meal prep ideas, provide nutrition tips, suggest mindful eating exercises, and more.
